Welcome to Petworth and Barker
Awarded 5 Stars by Mole Valley
Gemma started Petworth & Barker over a decade ago and based it out of her home in Betchworth. In 2022 she moved to Newdigate, to larger grounds, allowing her to move the business forward. Gemma's vision was simple, to provide The Best Home from Home Environment for other peoples dogs to stay and play in. A place where dogs have fun and feel like a part of Gemma's family, whether they are staying for the day, a week or a month!,
Our Day Care has been designed to ensure that we provide a stress-free environment where your
beloved companion can socialise, play, and relax.
What makes Petworth and Barker special and sets us aside from all of the rest: Well we cater for all dog sizes and breeds and Gemma having only owned rescue dogs is a sucker for a sob story. We have many furry guests who have needed a little extra special help to trust and settle and I'm delighted to say we've not had one fail.
Supervised Playtime: Our trained staff monitor our dogs when they are out and about to ensure safe and enjoyable interactions are had among all of our furry guests. Our dogs are put into selected groups of sometimes no more than one other dog and certainly no more than six. We want your dog to have the best experience here and small select groups are what Gemma feels is the best way to achieve this.
Down Time: We provide individual resting spaces, and cosy bedding to ensure your pup's complete comfort.
Owner Updates: Stay connected with your pup through regular photo and video updates on our Facebook page.
Health & Safety: Our facility follows strict cleanliness and hygiene standards, including vaccination requirements.
Your dog's happiness and well-being are our top priorities. At Petworth and Barker, we offer more than just day care – we offer a second home for your furry family member. Book your pup's spot today and experience the joy of a tail-wagging good time!

Activities in Extreme Weather
Due to the way that our business is structured, we remain open on both freezing cold or boiling hot days. We have suitable facilities to keep your pooches safe, engaged and happy, and our interactive activities ensure that your pooch has mental stimulation and enrichment. Gemma is a HUGE advocate of Brain Games. Having always had working type breeds Gemma knows only too well the benefits of getting those noses and brains engaged.
Brain games provide mental stimulation, which is just as important as physical exercise for dogs.
By setting your dogs mental challenges you can help reduce stress and prevent boredom, not to mention how making them use their brain will completely tire them out without even having to take a step outside. Mentally engaged dogs are calmer, more focused and the cognitive challenges tap into their natural problem solving instincts. Enrichment games for dogs can be just as tiring as physical exercise because they have to engage multiple senses to complete tasks, such as vision, hearing, smell and taste. Using all of those senses in such a focused way is incredibly tiring for your dog.
